fire spin

I took a break this evening from stock images and focused on experimental work. Last week some fire moth members and other fire enthusiasts got together for a late night burn. I took some high iso motion shots for fun. It was refreshing to process these shots without any restrictions knowing that I wouldn't upload or sell these anywhere.

I experimented with recreating the cross processed style normally associated with film, in a digital format. The results are varied but I like the surreal colors and tones.

sometimes you just have to get back to art. enjoy

Stay tuned for more snowboard shots and updates on my road trip into the north!

Spring shoot

I had another great weekend shooting in Vancouver. I had a chilled out photoshoot with a longtime dear friend of mine Diana. I shot a location I have been looking at for years but never got around to shooting.

The shoot went well as I loaded up on new spring images. Here is teaser with more shots to come. enjoy.

BMO Vancouver Marathon 2010

It was a wet and cold race this year but that did not deter the 14000 participants this year competing in the full, half marathons and 8km runs. The wet weather slowed the times this year but it was another great event with local squamish runner Jason Loutit finishing 2nd behind the 3 time kenyan champ Thomas Omwenga.

congrats to Kara and Chis you guys rocked it!

here are the rest of the shots on flikr

The Spit in Squamish

One of the great joys of photography is challenging yourself and experiencing new things. This summer I am planning on challenging myself with a new sport. Kite surfing has always fascinated me and I always wanted to try it as well as shoot it. My project this summer is to offer a photography service at The Spit in Squamish. In my trial run I met Rod and Tucker putting in some killer turns and airs. I did a mini photo shoot and quickly realized how easily my snowboard photography transfered to this water sport. I had a blast shooting and I am looking forward to spending a lot more time in Squamish this summer learning this sport.

I am available for action bookings at the moment by appointment. 778 846 4923

Later in the season when the wind is more consistent I will be shooting on the Spit every day offering on location viewing and cds.
